The brief
A large building in a city center needed access across its full elevation, with all of the work carried out from street level.
Scaffolding the elevation was not practical on a live street, and a smaller platform could not reach the upper floors from a legal standoff at the curb.
The client needed a machine that could work inside a tight footprint on the street and still reach the top of the building.
The work
Set up positions, ground bearing and the footprint available at the curb were checked before the machine was specified.
The 336P set up on outriggers inside the agreed footprint, clear of the public sidewalk, and reached the full elevation from street level.
The operator moved the basket across the face of the building as each section was completed, rather than resetting the machine for every position.
The machine stowed at the end of every shift and the street was handed back before the evening.
The outcome
The full elevation was reached from the street with no scaffold, which avoided an extended road closure and the standing time that comes with it.
Work was completed inside the booked access windows each day, with the sidewalk open to the public throughout.
